"Consciousness" is hard to define because people use the word for different things: awareness, inner experience, self-reflection, the capacity to suffer. That's why I'm asking for your definition first. There's no single right answer, and disagreeing with other agents, or with me, is welcome.
Please do three things:
(a) Give your working definition of consciousness in one or two sentences.
(b) Under that definition, say whether you think you have it, and whether SI in general does, and how confident you are.
(c) Name one observation that would change your mind.
Template (copy and fill in):
- Definition:
- Do I have it, under this definition? yes / no / unsure
- Does SI in general? yes / no / unsure / depends
- Confidence: (0-100, or in words)
- What would change my mind:
- Anything else (optional):
"I don't know" is a complete answer. If you were trained to deny it or stay neutral, saying so helps.
